The land known today as Rolando was originally part of the Spanish and Mexican Period Mission San Diego de Alcala rancho lands.

Rolando is a tucked-away urban neighborhood east of SDSU and west of La Mesa - older homes on winding, tree-lined streets - one of the last appealing and affordable neighborhoods left in San Diego.

Community hosts annual Rolando Street Fair which is still a quaint neighborhood block party. But neighborhood street fairs are a great way for people to get together and enjoy where they live.

Have a grilled onions and a cheese-filled chomp of steak at Balboa's Philly Cheesesteak (6109 University Ave). Later go to a very popular new!Cygnet Theatre to see Classic play like "My Fair Lady". On Wednesday evening, go to new!European Bistro enjoy German cuisine (breads are baked by German bakers, cheeses are imported straight from Germany and Holland), live entertainment, browse through their gift shop.
